I was a lost sole in my younger years. It was me wife that brought me back tae earth. She died giving birth tae me wee Heather. Back then we lived wi' her brother Lachlan Gunn. He had a small farm in a the fertile Kildonan valley. We had many years o' good times thar. However, that all ended with the death o' my dear wife. I tried tae make a go o' it but the memories were just tae painful. I decided tae take Heather and make a home in the north, near Wick. I had friends thar and thar was good land fer the taking. In hindsight, it was nae the best move fer Heather but she never let on. Aye, we made do.
They were a strange lot, I can tell ye that. I was off hunting and came across one o' em. Half dead he was tae. Luckily he was nae all the way dead, so I hauled him back tae our farm and Heather patched him up. He spoke a strange language I'd never heard afore. Well, the rest is as they say, history. The highland life was hard, but I'd have it nae other way.
